Police Dashcam of Meteor over Edmonton, Canada

Last Thursday at around 17:30 local time, a large meteor entered Earth’s atmosphere over the Canadian prairies, breaking up over central Alberta. More like a bolide, possibly even a meteorite. Very impressive utube video! The dashboard camera of a police cruiser captured this incredible footage:

This video is really great. I like your style presented in "Inspire The World" - you used a similar style in "Comida" too. Playing with the sharpness, the distance and the focussing objects is interesting, I get lots of impressions watching this video.
Just because of this very contrasty use of black and white fading with a green touch, it seems to be mystic.

Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprinter, broke the world record as he blitzed his rivals to claim the Olympic gold medal in the 100 metres final in Beijing.
He shaved three hundreds of a second off his own record despite slowing down and looking all around before the finishing line. Bolt is 6-foot-5, one reason he was never really pegged to run the 100 — men that tall aren't supposed to be able to get out of the starting blocks fast enough to win the shortest sprint.

Bolt's specialty has been the 200 meters, and he will be a heavy favorite to win that one next week in what would be the first men's Olympic sprint double since Carl Lewis in 1988. But Bolt persuaded his coach 13 months ago to let him try the 100, too — and what quick progress he has made.

"Usain was spectacular," Powell said. "He was definitely untouchable tonight. He could have gone a lot faster if he had run straight through the line."

Bolt actually skidded from the blocks in this one — not perfect, but then again, he didn't really need to be. He needed 41 strides to cover the 100 meters and practically loped past the finish line, looking to his right but finding no other runners there.

Bolt, 21, who nearly did not run in the event because he considers himself better at 200 metres, recorded a time of 9.69 seconds. He would surely have done a time of around 9.6 seconds if he had pushed himself all the way to the line.

Ten seconds Miss USA Rachel Smith would probably like to forget: Slipping and landing on her behind while modeling her evening gown at Monday night's Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City. (See video below.)

Smith's response was to say "Buenas noches Mexico. Muchas gracias!" ("Good evening, Mexico. Many thanks"), which earned her applause. She also ended up being the fourth runner-up in the contest, as Riyo Mori, a 20-year-old dancer from Japan, was named Miss Universe 2007.



Also speaking afterwards, pageant co-owner Donald Trump said of Smith's treatment, "Rachel has been a great Miss USA, and she's really a nice person, and I don't think they were booing Rachel, perhaps they were booing some policies of the United States, to be honest with you.". Last Thursday, Google was directed by a US district judge to share the login names and Internet addresses of its YouTube users with media company Viacom. The users of Google's popular video-sharing Web site, YouTube.com, run into millions - YouTube browsing on TV with Neuros release. Meanwhile reports just in suggest that Viacom has agreed to comply with anonymity requests; meaning it might agree to obscure personal identification information. That such private data will be disclosed has set alarm bells ringing. Privacy advocates argue that such disclosure would violate the 1988 Video Privacy Protection Act, which stipulates that private records may not be turned over to a third-party unless the person whose records are being revealed is given an opportunity to contest such a decision. Viacom has responded saying it has no intention of using personal information to persecute viewers. Rather it only wants to prove that YouTube (Video-browsing made easy)is promoting viewing of pirated content for profits sake.

The court ruling comes after the infamous $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit was slapped on Google by Viacom, which owns cable networks such as MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon. Viacom alleged that via YouTube, Google was making big bucks by way of uploading and promoting copyrighted data on a large scale. PS: Check out what the Turtle Says.

Google is now offering software that streams video, photos, and music from your PC to your television. With help from the Google Media Server, your TV can access videos, music, and photos stored on your PC, and naturally, it can tap straight into YouTube, the video-sharing site where Google hopes to serve an enormous number of advertisements. Google is already streaming YouTube videos into living room via third-party devices like Apple TV and HP's Media Smart TV. And now it's reaching out for the Playstation 3 crowd. The Google Media Server - available here - is a free Windows app that sends media files to your TV via the Playstation 3 and other Universal Plug-and-Play (UPnP) devices. It works in tandem with Google Desktop, the desktop search tool that also runs various and sundry software widgets known as Google Gadgets. "In the old days, we used to watch a simple device called a television. Nowadays, all the stuff worth watching and listening to tends to be stored on or accessed through a computer," writes software engineer David Garcia on the Google Desktop blog. YouTube.com Launched Personalized Homepage

In February YouTube began beta-testing its personalized homepages for individual users. Such personalization on YouTube was a long time coming, considering the advancements seen in other social media recommendation services and even third-party recommendation services that pertain directly to YouTube. Our Editor-in-Chief Adam Ostrow, however, had a much improved experience with his YouTube recommendations, which were accurate based on what he’d favorited. Based on the feedback received in these past few months of beta-testing, YouTube is now ready to launch the personalized homepages with a few improvements. Text for comments and messages are included directly in the body of these update emails, so you can see what these messages are without having to return to YouTube clips and logging in. I haven’t received any update emails from YouTube since this particular feature upgrade was rolled out, so I can’t say this for certain, but direct reply options for messages and comments via email would save users (especially power users) even more time. The video recommendation system has likely been tweaked, though this hasn’t been explicitly stated by YouTube. If it were up to me, I’d say that the tweaks are unnoticeable — one of my recommendations was for the same video I’ve already favorited, just a copy that’s been uploaded by another user. Nevertheless, if repeat content could be minimized in recommendations, that would be a vast improvement for my personal experience (I know it’s hard, but eventually doable). The most notable improvement to YouTube’s personalization features would be the tweaks made to the email notification system.

AT&T Inc. is launching two new mobile applications designed to make it easier for customers to watch clips and share photos and Videos That Met A Certain Standard on YouTube, MySpace and Facebook from their wireless devices. AT&T will offer JuiceCaster as an add-on service on 2G and 3G handsets for $2.99.



JuiceCaster 6.0, an application from Juice Wireless, allows wireless customers to post content on social-networking sites Facebook, Blogger, LiveJournal, MySpace, Twitter and Xanga as well as make new friends on the JuiceCaster community.
AT&T is offering the Buzzwire mobile media application for an extra $4.99 a month and is available on a number of the company's 3G handsets.

"Summer travel doesn't have to mean taking a vacation from your online world," said Mark Collins, vice president of consumer data products for AT&T's wireless unit. "There is real value and demand for giving consumers the tools to create and share video on the fly."

The mobile company is also giving wireless customers access to content from Buzzwire Inc., which will allow AT&T customers to watch more than 5,000 videos, including Webisodes, user-generated video content and news, sports and entertainment.

San Antonio-based AT&T (NYSE: T) is the nation's largest wireless company.

Bolt had a fantastic start and the gap never really widened after the three second mark. If Tyson Gay improves his start then I think he could match or even beat Bolt. I don't rule out the possibility of Tyson Gay beating this guy some day. Same goes for Asafa Powell. Jamaicans have always been at the top of track and field. What has held them back for years was the lack of world class training. This is evident by the success they have had in the past after leaving Jamaica and performing for Countries in Europe and North America. This training is now available in Jamaica and due to this Jamaica is now poised to DOMINATE !!!!

Google says Viacom's YouTube lawsuit threatens exchange of info on the Net

Viacom International Inc.'s $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit against YouTube LLC and its parent company, Google Inc., threatens the way that hundreds of millions of people legitimately exchange various kinds of content via the Internet, Google contended in an answer to an amended version of the complaint filed by Viacom last month. Google, which was sued by Viacom in March 2007, made similar arguments against the lawsuit in an initial response filed last spring. Google, which acquired YouTube in late 2006, said in its filing that the video-sharing Web site has adhered to the federal Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The DMCA provides a framework for regulating copyrights in the world of electronic content. It gives copyright holders procedures to follow to protect their content when alleged violations occur, and it offers protections to Web-based businesses and Internet users to cover unintentional posting of copyrighted materials. In its amended complaint, which requests a jury trial, Viacom said that while You Tube claims to be a forum for users to share their own original videos, a vast amount of the content posted on the site consists of "infringing copies" of Viacom's copyrighted works. That includes material from popular TV shows and movies such as SpongeBob SquarePants, South Park, An Inconvenient Truth, Mean Girls and many more.

The goalkeeper was pulled forward because they had to score (it was in the last minutes of the match it seems). So they pulled their keeper forward when they take the corner, apparently the ball lands at beckhams feet and he scores. You have to be very very acurate to score such a goal like this cuz from that distance it's very hard to shoot right in de middle of the goal so it's very amazing. YouTube revives Rap's skits

There had been talk for years about comedy sketches Rap Reiplinger shot on video just before he died, long-lost material he wrote for a visitor information channel on a Maui cable station, but it seemed to be a myth, a collective wish from his devoted fans or something that may have once existed but had been lost to time. Sanford Hill was on the crew of the video shoot all those years ago. Sometimes he was the camera man, sometimes the editor, and one time, he got to be the guy who hit Reiplinger in the face with a banana cream pie. Hill posted the clips on YouTube. There are 10 segments in all, including a rare glimpse of Reiplinger not in character but speaking as himself, talking story and interviewing a young Andy Bumatai at the old La Familia restaurant in Wailuku. Check out some reviews of YouTube video clips The "Rap's Maui" footage was his last video before his death from a drug overdose. Hill has a copy of the half-hour edited show, which ran on KPBC on Maui and also on KITV after Reiplinger's death, but he wonders whatever happened to all the rest of the footage they shot. "KPBC was sold a few times and is now part of the Paradise Network," Hill said. "I have no idea where all the camera tapes and video masters are. There was a lot more stuff and I hope they surface some day."

YouTube says it won't remove most Al-Qaeda videos

YouTube has told Senator Lieberman that it will leave it up to its viewers to help remove Al-Qaeda terrorist videos. In an open letter, Lieberman demanded that YouTube immediately remove thousands of videos because they clearly intended “to encourage violence against the West”. YouTube in its public blog post says hundreds of thousands of videos are uploaded everyday and that it cannot arbitrarily remove one group's videos.



In the open letter to Google head Eric Schmidt, Lieberman demanded that all of the Al-Qaeda videos be immediately removed (even the nonviolent ones). Schmidt and the YouTube team did actually remove many of the violent videos, but left all of the non-violent videos. Most people just preferr jokes and funny videos. “Users are always free to express their disagreement with a particular video on the site, by leaving comments or their own response video. That debate is healthy,” said Schmidt.

YouTube Wants to Pay Content Creators

YouTube is expanding their partnership with independent video creators who are looking for not only a little more distribution, but also a little extra cash.

There are a few video contribution sites on the Internet that currently pay video contributors for their submissions, but YouTube has not. Recently YouTube Chief Executive Chad Hurley told an audience at the World Economic Forum that they are interested in paying contributors for original submissions, but that could be easier said than done.

You see, right now YouTube sees 30 million visitors and it would be very difficult for such a large site to pay contributors the way the smaller sites do. The first question is just how the site would profit from visitors viewing these videos. To pay for submissions, YouTube would need to earn an income from those videos, but surveys have shown that YouTube would loose about 70 percent of it's visitors if they were to run short video ads as lead-ins to the contributed videos. Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty have caused concern among fans after filming a bizarre video of themselves playing with newborn mice.

The pair, believed to be at Doherty's Wiltshire home, put the video, called Winemouse, on YouTube on Friday.

In the two-minute clip, Winehouse says the pair have 30 one-day old mice.
Another video, which showed them with the mice, cats and Dr. Turtle, has now been removed. A later video shows Winehouse performing with a girl identified as her goddaughter.

The girl sings Alicia Keys' song If I Ain't Got You, with Winehouse playing guitar and singing backing vocals in front of a Union Jack flag.

Winehouse is due to play a number of festivals across Europe this summer, starting with Portugal's Rock In Rio - In Lisbon event on 30 May.

We Should Support Advertisers’ Funny Viral Advertisements

I really hate commercials! (But I have to say that not every commercial - I like funny commercials, but unfortunately there'sonly afew of them... I like funny commercials. I thought it would be incredible to have Charlotte Rae break-dance. Lou Ferrigno was working on the Rubik's Cube with his mental prowess. He's fantastic, he's so funny. All of the actors, like Philip Michael Thomas, are definitely an untapped reservoir. The camera just eats him up, and Charlene Tilton. Everybody had a little something. And Kelly LeBrock, who's an extraordinarily bright and funny woman. They all were great.It's time for some funny streaming video clips. So what if that ridiculous video of those guys effortlessly jumping into a pair of jeans was merely a viral ad concocted by an ad agency that’s been doing this time and time again? We’re in the middle of an era where even two-year-olds are bombarded with thousands of marketing messages every day. Shouldn’t we at least enjoy the ones being shoved down our throats? The ad in question is one for Levi’s jeans, replicated from a Ray-Ban ad from last year. It’s racking up millions of views on YouTube.com and elsewhere. And you know what? God damn good for them!

And if MTV plans on turning its commercial breaks into “podbusting” segments, where advertisers air commercials that very much resemble actual programming, shouldn’t we be encouraging them to head in this direction?

It’s actually quite difficult to come up with a viral ad concept. Sit in on any marketing meeting, no matter how big or small the brand, and all they can talk about is “going viral.” Turtle says: those kids with the Mentos and Diet Coke probably didn’t know what they were sitting on when they created the exploding video, and that wasn’t even an actual commercial. And for good reason: There’s no exact science. Ad agencies don’t know what’s going to make a certain spot spread across the Interwebs, even though they’ll spend $3 million this year on Super Bowl spots that they hope will be revisited on YouTube.

His victory in NC and the closeness of Indiana earned him that nomination.
It doesn't matter which pundit says the obvious. By the way, I voted for Hillary in the CA primary. She would make a great President, but Obama has earned the nomination.

I'm really baffled by people's reactions. I don't watch Oprah and am no fan of Tom Cruise, and that house is SO not my style (all the wood paneling--ugh). I do think the view is lovely, though some people may disagree. But for people to criticize her for oohing and ahhing over a house boggles my mind. I guess some people don't know how to behave: Oprah seemed perfectly warm and friendly, not to mention polite.

Tom Cruise is just an every day guy like everyone else. At the end of the day he's just trying to make it like everyone else. I worked with him in 1989 on a film. He never acted like he was better than anyone. He always tried to pay for everything. He's very cool. If you ask him for his autograph he will be happy to give it to you. If you ask him talk on your cell phone to your mom he will. Some people hate to interact with their fans, but Tom loves it.

This is one of the YouTube’s funniest video clips. One of the funniest videos I have ever seen is a compilation of funny cats on YOUTUBE. I am sure you all have probably seen America's Funniest videos at one time or another and the funniest videos are usually of animals doing silly or crazy things. I happened to come across a video all about funny cats one day when I was searching for funny videos on You Tube . The video I found is a compilation of short clips of cats doing crazy things. The video clip is over three minutes long. What I find to be hilarious about this video is the fact that these cats are just doing there thing and it happens to be hilarious.

Los Altos-based Ustream.tv Inc. raised $11.1 million in April for its live streaming video site, which launched publicly in March 2007.

The site has almost 3 million unique viewers a month, and 80 percent watch live video instead of archived programs. Ustream is able to better monetize its content because it can deliver viewers who watch video for an average of 30 to 40 minutes, said founder Brad Hunstable.

Verna said more sites will offer streaming video in coming months because of the popularity of the "citizen journalist," the decreasing cost of broadband access and the Internet's increasing bandwidth capabilities. Ustream is entering the field early enough that it could be a market leader, he said.

The YouTube Warner Deal

According to the Wall Street Journal, YouTube has double pinky swore to Warner Brothers that it will implement some kind of technology in order to credit Warner artists will royalties based on music played on its submitted videos. The deal will surely be the first among many the big labels will be inking with the likes of YouTube and Google Video. Make The Most of YouTube. Although this agreement will give YouTube the permission to use Warner properties in "legal" ways, you can't help wondering how permissive Warner will be now they have affirmed ownership and will most likely pull any material used in a fashion that they don't approve - for one reason or another.

But sites like YouTube, which are devoid of a solid business model, cannot survive forced royalties to Warner, let alone when the other corporate playa haters come calling - EMI, Universal, Sony, BMG [breath] BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, James Hetfield [breath] Harry Fox. Unfortunately, user-generated content sites may have to switch to a subscription-type of service or "pay to post" site which would undoubtedly ruin their web cred and send eyeballs elsewhere.

Worse for Hillary, the coffee machine debacle harkens back to George Bush, the elder, and how he expressed amazement on first seeing a grocery scanner that the rest of us had seen for years. Google's CEO says: Youtube needs to bring in more money

Youtube is certainly Google's second biggest crowd puller after Google's own search engine technology but it has yet to bring in a significant amount of revenue.

Schmidt said YouTube planned to introduce a series of new products aimed at generating advertising revenue. Asked by interviewer Maria Bartiromo what the timeframe for making money was, Google's chief executive answered:

"We believe the best products are coming out this year. And they're new products. They're not announced," Schmidt said, adding that such ads would be "much more participative, much more creative ... much more interesting in and of themselves."

Shares of Google rose $26.39 to as high as $584.86 after CNBC broadcast portions of the interview on Wednesday. The stock is off 15 percent in the year to date, but has recovered 40 percent off lows hit six weeks ago.

So the priority of Google for 2008 according to Google's top brass Eric Schmidt, will be to make Youtube become a major revenue earner for the search company and show only best streaming video clips and top videos.

It will be interesting to see how Google plans to monetize all the eye balls that Youtube continues to attract (Ed : Perhaps, Youtube could start paying people for watching ads?)

This is the saddest thing ever. That little kid needs some serious counseling and a home where he can learn right from wrong! Fat seven year old steals and totals his grandmothers car. That little brat wouldn't be touching another video game until he was moved out of the house if he was my kid. Hell he'd be lucky to leave his room before his 18th birthday.



This is all the fault of those video games like Grand Theft Auto. Kids think that they can imitate the things in games and get no punishment for it.
There is seriously somthing wrong with the way they discipline that boy- he didn't look even slightly nervous about getting in trouble! his video games should be taken away for a year- and they should get him and the family counseling. YouTube videos: Virginia Tornadoes (Monday, April 28)

Officials are still surveying the damage in southeastern Virginia, where three tornadoes touched down Monday afternoon. As of this morning, authorities said the storms injured more than 200 people. There are o lot of funny videos on YouTube, but this one isn't funny.

A Colonial Heights police dispatcher there hung up the phone, saying authorities were too busy to talk.

YouTube videos can be added to listings on Google Maps

Google Inc. this week said that local businesses can now add YouTube videos to listings on Google Maps. Business owners can add videos to company descriptions, reviews and photos now on site.

Google said that adding the capability to Google maps was a natural extension to its move last year to allow geotagged YouTube videos to run in Google Earth. Users can launch videos on Google Maps from the 'Photos and Videos' tab of the information bubble that appears when a user clicks on a listing.

Erick Schonfeld, a TechCrunch blogger, noted that combining the power of YouTube with Google Maps should make Google's local listings much more appealing.



"Now any local business can essentially put a television ad on Google Maps," he said. "But the most effective videos will be the ones that don't seem like ads at all, but rather show the real people behind the businesses that are listed."

He added, however, that it is unfortunate that Google chose to make the feature only available to businesses that list on Google.

"While I love to watch YouTube and love amazing funny videos websites, the experience is even better for me when I can view their geographic context," noted Julia Li, a Google strategic partner manager. "In addition to using Google Maps to get local business details, read reviews, and check out photos, I can now also get a sneak peek with embedded videos."

He added, however, that it is unfortunate that Google chose to make the feature only available to businesses that list on Google.

State gets with it, starts YouTube video channel

California bureaucrats Wednesday launched the state's own YouTube video channel.
In one, a twentysomething guy in a hooded sweatshirt stands in front of a plain-white screen sharing his personal story while a jazzy piano plays in the background. "So, my wife, like of, three years, she left me, burned down the house, almost killed my mom, crashed my Beemer..."
And some of the clips are actually pretty hip. For reals!
He's promoting the Franchise Tax Board's free online tax-filing service by mentioning the phrase "Ready Return" three times during the 1 minute, 24-second clip - as an aside that has little to do with his fictional tale.

The video was posted earlier this year on the agency's own YouTube page, but Wednesday it became a highlight of the state's new video channel.

Along with this month's addition of an API that allows third-party sites to access YouTube's underlying libraries and infrastructure to create their own YouTube-like videos, the new analytics tool "simply makes You Tube that much more attractive to use as a video host," Catone noted.

The YouTube Insight tool, available without charge, provides users with detailed statistics on how often their videos are viewed and where the users are located, said YouTube product manager Tracy Chan, in a blog post. In addition, the tool can measure how popular a video is in a specific region compared to all videos viewed there during a specific period of time.

Indonesia announces a ban on YouTube

They are implementing this bad due to a video hosted on YouTube which has been made by a right-wing Dutch lawmaker. Reuters is reporting that Indonesia has asked the ISPs to block access to YouTube for hosting the anti-Quaran film.

Indonesia’s Communications and Information Minister, Mohammad Nuh, said:
If the film is not removed within two days, we will block Funny Videos from YouTube in cooperation with Internet service providers.
